Louisiana Bayou Chapter, NSDAR
Lake Charles, Louisiana
The Louisiana Bayou Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized on October 15, 1987, with seventy members. These members proudly served the community by promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Trees were planted, flags were dedicated at the Historic City Hall, and Daughters strived to promote civic education in the schools and community.
To date, our chapter has continued to follow in the footsteps that our founding Daughters started. We dedicate service hours to helping women’s shelters by finding ways to help meet their needs. We donate clothing that is shared with abused victims being treated at hospitals.
Our dedication to veterans is one of our largest projects as we host a Vietnam Veterans Ceremony that includes feeding a crowd of over 200 people. Our sponsorship of the National Society Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R.) and the Louisiana State Society Children of the American Revolution (L.S.C.A.R.) makes it more fun and easier to achieve success. Daughters serve on the Mayor's Armed Forces Committee, and many patriotic events are attended and sponsored.
When you join, you get to be yourself! You will meet your mentor, who will introduce you to the many chapter projects. Ease into membership and an interesting project, and then join in!
Besides having business meetings, we have coffee socials, "Sips and Sparkles," and DAR trivia.
You can help by addressing Christmas cards to veterans, joining a service committee, or becoming an officer. Service comes in many different styles. One will be a fit for you.
As the cajun would say, "Come pass a good time, cher" at Louisiana Bayou Chapter, NSDAR, as we continue to follow the path of our founding Daughters.
Our chapter holds meetings on various days of the month. Click here to contact the chapter for more information.
