The Conolly Collection
Beverly Reeves Conolly was born in Cleburne, Texas on January 5, 1930. After graduating from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1949 she married Richard Conolly, Jr. and Army officer and later a United States Foreign Service Officer. Together they travelled the world from Japan to Egypt to Uruguay and to Venezuela.

Beverly was accomplished in many areas; equestrian competitor, musician, songwriter, author, mother, and grandmother. While researching her family history, Beverly became interested in the process and soon established herself as a certified genealogist. She then joined DAR in December of 1963. This family research soon led to the collection of many books, documents, maps, and interviews with primary sources.

Mrs. Conolly expressed her desire for this collection to be donated to the DAR and in June 2021 a large shipment of materials was received by Nancy Bickham, LSDAR State Librarian, for inclusion into the state DAR library. Mary Stacey Dempsey, State Chair for Literacy Promotion and Librarian for the Pierre de Mandeville Chapter facilitated this donation.

Following her death on April 19, 2018, Beverly Reeves Conolly was interred beside her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.

Her collection is available to view and use as a genealogy resource in the Annie Laurie Moody Library. A listing of available books is available online via PDF.
